The Story

The BUCO TEE / R.F. ACCORNERO is made from 8 oz. cotton in a boxy 1950s silhouette. A binder neck construction helps the collar retain its shape with wear. The R.F. ACCORNERO graphics on the front and rear of the tee are hand applied in rubber print at our Kobe headquarters.

In the early twentieth century, tyre manufacturers placed an increasing emphasis on strong graphic identity. Bold typography and racing associations helped brands stand out in a competitive market shaped by the rapid growth of the automotive industry.

From the 1920s onward, these companies extended their branding beyond print advertising into practical merchandise. Caps, shop coats, enamel signs, and T shirts were supplied to mechanics, dealerships, and racing teams, while novelty items such as tyre ashtrays became popular collectibles, often sold in gas stations across the United States.
