USN MEDICAL DEPARTMENT SLEEPING SHIRT

The USN MEDICAL DEPARTMENT SLEEPING SHIRT is crafted from a vat-dyed, basket-woven cotton fabric, closed at the front with cotton webbing ties. The shirt features a "MEDICAL DEPARTMENT U.S.N." stamp beneath the single chest patch pocket.

Originally issued for use in naval medical facilities, such as shipboard sickbays and field hospitals, these shirts were designed for comfort and ease of wear for both patients and medical staff. Early versions were typically made from white cotton cloth, whereas later models from the 1950s were produced using light blue cotton flannel - both colors commonly associated with hospital attire. This reinterpretation is constructed from the fabric used in our N-3 UTILITY SHIRT.
